Stay in Your Lane

Your value doesn't depend on somebody else's spotlight. Be ready for your By'not'e opening.

We spend a lot of our lives comparing ourselves to somebody else. They make more money. They get more attention. They seem happier. They’re the star. We’re not.

That kind of thinking can destroy confidence because we begin believing our value depends upon whether other people notice us.

Butler By’not’e wasn’t the biggest name on Ohio State’s roster.

He didn’t need to be. When his opportunity came, his job wasn’t to be Raymont Harris or Eddie George.

It was to be Butler By’not’e.

We sometimes look around and decide somebody else has the life we’re supposed to have…the success, the personality, the perfect marriage, the money.

What does comparing yourself to others do to you?

You don’t need to be them.

You need to be ready for your opening.

We spend too much time staring at somebody else’s lane.

Stay in yours.

Keep moving.

Because sometimes the difference between feeling invisible and discovering what you’re capable of is simply getting the ball and running with it.
